This is the new tool for your PR tech stack.
It's the 70th edition of the PR Tool Shack newsletter (oh my 😳)!
In this edition I curated a tool I have come to work with in the context of crisis simulation exercises and which is using - watch out, here it comes - AI to make our lives as communicators easier.
This is not for everyone, but if you're curious about the potential future of artificial intelligence and video communication, read on.
Zenler - All In One Course Creation, Delivery & Marketing Platform

This is the new tool for your arsenal
Using AI to create crisis simulation injects.
I have written about artificial intelligence and the impact it has (and will have) on the Public Relations profession before, and even reviewed some tools here in the PR Tool Shack.
The tool I cover today is called Synthesys and allows you to create video avatars and text to speech using AI.
What does it do?
Synthesys develops algorithms for converting text to voice-over and video for commercial use. It enables you to enhance your website explainer videos or product tutorials in minutes using a natural human voice.
The use of clear, natural voice-overs adds confidence and authority to your digital messages and creates a credible and emotional connection between your customers and your brand.
With the AI voice generator, you can make the leap from simple text to dynamic and engaging digital content. Synthesys Text-to-Speech (TTS) and Synthesys Text-to-Video (TTV) technology transform your script into lively and dynamic media presentations.
One of the ways I use the tool is when I prepare and organize crisis simulations.
One of the most work intensive parts of organizing simulations is the creation of realistic and scenario driven injects - the multimedia pieces of content you give to "players" during the course of the simulation.
Synthesys allows me to quickly draft injects in text format and from there I can create news items like simulated "breaking news stories" by reporters or AI-generated "YouTube influencers" who will "attack" my client during the simulation.
Other applications include the creation of explainer and training videos, social media stories, audiobooks etc...
- AI text to Video generator with 74 real Humatars: 38 Female, 36 Male
- Over 66 languages to choose from a total voicebank of 254 unique styles
- Full customization completely created on a cloud-based application
- Easy to use interface for editing and rendering
- High resolution output
At an additional cost, and separate from their monthly fee - see below, it is also possible to create your own AI video avatar for $497 per year, or you can "clone your voice" for $297 per year.
Synthesys has 3 different price settings.
The first one called Human Studio Synthesys includes the AI video creator and is at $39/month for unlimited videos. Audio Synthesys is the "audio only" service which allows for unlimited voice-overs based on text and is at $29/month. Finally, we have the "all in one" pricing which gives you both video and audio and also unlimited renderings for $59/month.
PS: I am sure you're curious about the final videos generated by the system so have a look here at one I created as a breaking news inject for a crisis simulation exercise recently.
One last thing...
Buy me a coffee! ☕️
Both of the newsletters I publish are a labor of love and passion for the Public Relations profession.
